The Artist

Horst Janzen discovered his artistic talent while fleeing at the end of the II World War and persued his passion intensively until the end of his days.

¨Every piece of nature..., a stone, an old object or even a nearby landscape, gives me the desire to immortalise that object in the form of painting¨ - extract from the diary

Art

Horst´s art bridges artistic styles. His work ranges from impressionist work to expressionism,  including also elements of surrealism.

Horst saw Pablo Picasso as one of his great role models. Others described him as a painter between E.L. Kirchner and the Surrealists.

Prof. Stein, former member of the Bundestag from the Oberberg region, also stressed that Horstjanzen is “one of the three finest artists of the Oberberg region, which should encourage the people of his region to engage with him and his work”.
